Telemedicine
Midwest Rural Telemedicine
Consortium
"A service of Iowas largest telemedicine network"
The Midwest Rural Telemedicine Consortium is a joint program of North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City, and Mercy Health Medical Center, Des Moines, the two hubs. The MRTC project was developed in 1993 and now included 38 sites in Iowa including Franklin General Hospital. Using fiber optic technology, the MRTC provides immediate communication between rural and urban health centers. This program helps share information rapidly, with the potential to improve patient outcomes.
