Franklin General Hospital offers a wide range of laboratory services to patients of FGH and Franklin Medical Center that include the following:

Wellness Testing Available
This program offers an easy and inexpensive way to monitor your own health concerns without a doctor’s order.
Here are a few details about Wellness Testing:
- A physician’s order is not required for these tests.
- You don’t need an appointment. Simply register at the front desk of FGH.
- The tests are offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- The customer, if 18 or older, or parent/legal guardian if the person is under 18, consents to take responsibility for the follow-up of abnormal results.
- A physician will review critical test results.
- Payment for these tests must be received at the time of service in cash or check; insurance will not be billed.
- The results will be sent directly to you within one week of collecting the specimen, along with an explanation of any abnormal results.
- You are encouraged to share these results with your health care provider.

This is an indicator of thyroid function. When used in combination with the TSH screen, it is a very good check of thyroid disorder. An abnormally functioning thyroid gland affects an individual's energy level, heart rate, weight control, and more.

This is an early indicator of possible kidney damage. The National Kidney Foundation recommends that Type 1 diabetics over the age of 12 and Type 2 diabetics under the age of 70 be screened every year.
*Individual should be fasting. Fasting, for the laboratory, means no solid or liquid food for 12 hours and no alcohol 24 hours prior to specimen collection. Water should be taken in normal amounts. Continue taking your medications as directed by your provider.
