Caprese Salad Recipe

Heart Healthy Recipe Diabetes Recipe
A staple of Italian cuisine, this exceedingly simple salad takes just 10 minutes to make. Fresh mozzarella makes for a low sodium recipe.

Ingredients

    • 1 large tomato, cut into 1/4-inch slices
    • A pinch of salt
    • A pinch of garlic powder
    • 2 ounces fresh mozzarella, cut into 1/4-inch slices
    • Fresh basil leaves
    • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 Tbsp Balsamic vinegar
    • 1/4 tsp oregano
    • Freshly ground black pepper

Preparation

    • Season tomato slices with salt and garlic powder.
    • Stack one mozzarella slice, one tomato slice, and one basil leaf and arrange stacks on plate.
    • Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with oregano and freshly ground black pepper.
